Overview:
Build Up is a strategic puzzle game that challenges players to build structures block by block. My role in this project focused on enhancing the core gameplay by analyzing the existing mechanics and implementing systems to improve player engagement, replayability, and progression.
Project Goals:
The aim was to deepen the game’s challenge and satisfaction loop by introducing fresh gameplay dynamics and a structured sense of achievement.
Key Enhancements & Contributions:
🧱 Designed 5 New Gameplay Elements – Introduced innovative special blocks that added new layers of strategy and variety, enriching the puzzle-solving experience.
🏆 Achievement & Progression System – Developed a full game progression system including tiered achievements, level difficulty scaling, and player rewards to boost motivation and long-term retention.
🎯 Gameplay Analysis & Balancing – Conducted in-depth analysis of the original gameplay to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.
My Role:
As the Game Designer, I spearheaded the redesign phase, conceptualizing and integrating new gameplay features that maintained the spirit of the original while pushing its creative boundaries. I also built systems that guided player growth and celebrated skill mastery through progressive challenges and unlockable achievements.
