Sensory Detectives

Real-Time AR Data Visualization for HoloLens

About project

Overview:

Sensory Detectives is a mobile augmented reality (AR) application that visualizes real-time environmental data—such as temperature, humidity, and wind—within the user’s physical surroundings. Designed for AR-enabled smartphones, it transforms invisible sensor input into intuitive spatial overlays, helping users better understand their immediate environment.

The project was developed in collaboration with academic institutions including RMIT and the University of Oregon as part of the SmartGeometry16 workshop. Our team at Matarsak Studio participated as an external partner, focusing on the design and implementation of the mobile AR application alongside the academic research teams.

Core Features:

🌡️ Real-Time Sensor Visualization – Displays temperature, humidity, and wind data via wireless IoT sensors.

📡 Seamless Sensor Connectivity – Pulls live data from physical installations through Wi-Fi-enabled devices.

📱 Mobile AR Interface – Works on ARCore/ARKit-supported smartphones to project data into real-world space.

🎯 Simple, Functional Design – Prioritizes usability and clarity to make complex data easy to understand.

My Role – UI/UX Design & App Testing

I was responsible for the user interface and experience design, ensuring that environmental data was presented clearly and intuitively through AR. I also contributed to testing and debugging the application throughout its development, helping to refine the interaction flow and improve overall performance across devices.
